Born in Lewiston, New York, Brian graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He earned his Master of Theology degree at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. He received his doctorate in New Testament and Early Christian Origins at Ridley College in Melbourne, Australia. His research focused on ancient literacy and early Christian reading practices during the time of Jesus. Before planting Redeemer Community Church, Brian served as a full-time chaplain for the Department of Justice in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Brian periodically speaks at churches, conferences, colleges, and seminaries in North America and overseas. He has published more than a dozen books for adults and children, including Communal Reading in the Time of Jesus and God’s Daring Dozen. In addition, his pastoral and academic work have been featured on several Christian media networks, such as Christianity Today, The Gospel Coalition, Desiring God, and Power for Living.
Brian and his wife Daniella are the proud parents of five children.
